No person needs to be reminded of the violence that has occurred on school grounds in the past number of years. Littleton, Virginia Tech, and NIU are just a few high profile incidents that have grabbed the national spotlight. The unfortunate truth is that schools deal with violent crimes on a daily basis. In reality, major events like Columbine are rare, while assault and rape crimes are commonplace on school property, as is a new type of violence, called "cyber-bullying". It is vital for students and teachers to become aware of their environment, and react appropriately in order to prevent or escape incidents. A proactive mindset needs to be accepted by schools in order to prevent violence before it happens. Millions of dollars are being spent on improving the response time in which First Responders arrive at a scene. The great strides made on response times demonstrate a positive move towards a solution; however, a fast response may already be too late to save lives.
Anzen's goal is to prevent violence from occurring and to instill a proactive approach to incident prevention. We all have or had children in school and we share the same fears that most parents face on a daily basis. But, how can we decrease or eliminate the threats that our children face?
In order to combat this influx of violence, Anzen has establish a program called, USASafeSchools™, dedicated to counter the hostile environment that has overwhelmed our educational system. USASafeSchools™ is an innovative approach which provides schools with the tools and training they need to reduce the threat to the teachers and students. The program consists of a proven approach to risk and vulnerability assessments. Anzen has designed a curriculum tailored to situational awareness and reactive training with the education community in mind. Training offerings are conducted through both online and hands-on traditional methods. The USASafeSchools™ initiate will also assist schools in obtaining the necessary security products to enhance the physical security of the schools.
